If I work for DirectCare Shifts, what is my employment status?

All health care providers working for DirectCare Shifts are independent contractors.

Over the last several years, we've heard countless health care professionals tell us they prefer the flexibility to create their own schedule, determine which facilities they want to work for, and when to take vacations. And we've listened!

All health care providers who choose to work through the DirectCare Shifts platform are considered independent contractors. This means that you have the freedom and flexibility to create your own schedule, allowing you to determine when and where you want to work. You are essentially your own boss, giving you the autonomy to make decisions that suit your needs and preferences.

As an independent contractor, it is important to keep a current W9 form on file with DCS. This form helps to ensure that your tax information is accurately recorded. At the end of the year, you will receive a 1099 statement from DCS summarizing your total earnings. This statement is essential for reporting your income when filing your taxes.

If you have any questions or concerns about how much you should set aside for taxes, it is highly recommended to seek advice from a Certified Professional Accountant (CPA). They are experts in tax regulations and can provide you with valuable guidance on managing your finances and ensuring compliance with tax laws.

By being an independent contractor on the DirectCare Shifts platform, you have the opportunity to take control of your career and enjoy the benefits of being your own boss. With the ability to set your own rate, determine your schedule, and choose the facilities you want to work for, you have the freedom to tailor your work to fit your lifestyle and preferences.
